2102 Ordnance Officer

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Alex A. Martinez is enthusiastically recommended for the Meritorious Service Medal for outstanding service in the performance of his duties as Regimental Ordnance Officer, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, from August 2018 to November 2022. Throughout this period, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez consistently demonstrated high levels of proficiency and extraordinary devotion to mission accomplishment. His service significantly improved the ordnance combat readiness across the Regiment. Utilizing superb leadership and mentorship and working hand-in-hand with subordinate battalions, adjacent commands, and higher headquarters, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez greatly influenced the ordnance program across the regiment and is worthy of the honor and recognition of the Meritorious Service Medal.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 inherited a billet that had been vacant for over a decade. As the only 2120, Weapons Repair Officer, for the largest and most geographically dispersed artillery Regiment in the Marine Corps, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez seized the initiative of the ordnance community and positive results were seen immediately. As the Regimental Ordnance Officer, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez led the effort to develop the Marines in the military occupational specialties of 2111 Small Arms Repair Technician, 2131 Towed Artillery Repairer, 2171 Electro-optical ordnance repairer, 1316 metalworker/welder, and 2311 Ammunition Technician. He networked, organized, and mentored Marines within every ordnance section across the regiment with his wealth of knowledge and experience.

As the sole Ordnance Officer in the Regiment, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez provided expert technical advice for all units within 14th Marines which included the Regimental Headquarters, Communications Company, and three battalions spread across thirteen geographically separated sites. In doing so, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez ensured the Regiment was capable of meeting, and in most cases exceeding, all ordnance requirements in order to effectively accomplish the mission at hand. He took it upon himself to gain additional knowledge on the M777A2 and HIMARS to improve his technical proficiency so he could support the cannon and rocket artillery battalions who did not have personnel in their ordnance officer billets. His dedicated efforts and creative thinking ensured training was completed in the regiment's high operational tempo.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez's leadership, tactical proficiency, and complete disdain for the status quo were critical factors that propelled 14th Marines to achieve a myriad of success both in tactical and garrison environments. Throughout his tenure, the ordnance program within the regiment has had five (5) Commanding General Readiness Inspections (CGRI) noteworthy mission capable inspections, six (6) Field Supply and Maintenance Analysis Office (FSMAO) noteworthy mission capable inspections, and four (4) Supply Maintenance Assistance Team (SMAT) mission capable inspections. Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez's detailed supervision of the Regiment's ordnance program focused on preparing subordinate units for inspection and ensuring their ordnance sections were operating effectively on a day to day basis. The result has made the regiment capable in training events and more lethal on the battlefield.

In terms of able to deploy, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez was pivotal to the execution of strategic training exercises and deployments at the headquarters, battalion, and battery levels. His professional expertise and operational prowess resulted in the successful integration of 14th Marines ordnance in numerous Service-Level, Joint, and Multi-National exercises, as well as the deployment of six different formations to Afghanistan, Japan, and the United States European and Central Command areas of operation. These exercises included Dynamic Front 2019, Cold Response 2020, Pacific Sentry (I MEFEX), II MEFEX, III MEFEX, UDP 22.1, WTI 20-1, Emerald Warrior 2019 and 2020, Rolling Thunder, R-ITX, Jaded Thunder, and Regimental FIREX 2021 and 2022. With the Regiment, he was critical to the planning and execution of Regimental Firing Exercise (REGFIREX) 21 and 22, which encompassed small arms ranges, live fire rocket and cannon artillery, distributed across multiple states.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez has made a significant contribution to 14th Marines and the Marine Corps ordnance community. In 2020, he was involved in a technical review of the M777A2 howitzer where he advised program officers, engineers, and contractors at Picatinny Arsenal, New Jersey on the future advancements of cannon artillery. In 2020, he was hand selected to attend II MEFEX as the 14th Marine Regiment, Force Artillery Headquarters, Logistics Officer Representative to the G4. Although outside of his MOS, he ensured the Regiment was capable of meeting and exceeding, all logistical requirements in order to effectively accomplish the mission at hand. In 2021/2022, Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez participated in successful Regiment FIREX's and ensured that ordnance equipment readiness was maintained.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Martinez's initiative, personal example, and leadership have been prevalent throughout his tenure with 14th Marine Artillery Regiment and have been marked with professionalism and distinction. He has more than established himself as an incredibly dependable cornerstone for 14th Marine Regiment. PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS BATTALION ARMORY MAINTENANCE NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICER IN CHARGE, BATTALION LANDING TEAM 1/8, 24TH MARINE EXPEDITIONARY UNIT, FROM 5 DECEMBER 2023 TO 2 FEBRUARY 2024. SERGEANT BEIDELSCHIES SERVED AS THE BATTALION LANDING TEAM'S ARMORY CHIEF ABOARD THE USS NEW YORK, EXCELLING IN A BILLET ABOVE HIS RANK AND GRADE. TAKING CHARGE FOR THE ALL MARINE EXPEDITIONARY UNIT ARMORIES ACROSS THE USS NEW YORK, SERGEANT BEIDELSCHIES ENSURED ACCOUNTABILITY AND TIMELY MAINTENANCE OF OVER 300 WEAPON SYSTEMS. SERGEANT BIEDELSCHIES ALSO ORGANIZED ARMORIES TO MAXIMIZE EFFICIENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY PROCEDURES. SERGEANT BEIDELSCHIES' TECHNICAL PROFICIENCY, ATTENTION TO DETAIL, AND DEDICATION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT ON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE MARINE CORPS AND THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.

FOR MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS BATTALION ARMORY MAINTENANCE CHIEF, 12TH LITTORAL COMBAT TEAM (LCT), 3D MARINE DIVISION, FROM 16 JUNE 2024 TO 1 OCTOBER 2025. DURING THIS PERIOD, LANCE CORPORAL WEAVER'S EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP AND TECHNICAL EXPERTISE WAS THE CATALYST FOR THE SUCCESSFUL STAND-TO OF THE ENTIRETY OF 12TH LITTORAL COMBAT TEAM. AS MAINTENANCE CHIEF, HE LED SEVEN PEER MARINES IN THE RECEIPT FOR, STORAGE OF, INVENTORY OF, AND EXECUTION OF MAINTENANCE ON 5,948 SERIALIZED END ITEMS TRANSFERRED TO 12TH LCT. LCPL WEAVER OVERSAW THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF 2,148 SERVICE REQUESTS BEING CREATED IN FIVE MONTHS' TIME IN ORDER TO MEET FUNDING DEADLINES, RESULTING IN APPROPRIATING FUNDING FOR EQUIPMENT TRANSFERS TO 12TH LCT FOR MAINTENANCE AND SL-3 DEFICIENCIES VALUED AT 5.5 MILLION DOLLARS. LANCE CORPORAL WEAVER'S ADAMANT REFUSAL TO ABANDON MISSION TRAINING REQUIREMENTS IN THE FACE OF OVERWHELMING MAINTENANCE LIMITATIONS LED TO 35 RANGES SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED IN THE LEAD UP TO RESOLUTE DRAGON. MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS ARMORY CHIEF, 1ST BATTALION, 5TH MARINES, 1ST MARINE DIVISION FROM DECEMBER 2020 TO FEBRUARY 2023. WHILE DEPLOYED ON THE 31ST MARINE EXPEDITIONARY UNIT, STAFF SERGEANT ESPARZA EXPERTLY AND TIRELESSLY SUPPORTED MAINTENANCE AND ACCOUNTABILITY EFFORTS FOR 60,000,000 DOLLARS WORTH OF EQUIPMENT ACROSS THREE SHIPS IN THE AMPHIBIOUS READY GROUP. OVER TWO YEARS, HE SUPPORTED OVER 300 UNIT TRAINING EVENTS, INCLUDING 50 LIVE FIRE RANGES AND TRAINING EVOLUTIONS SUCH AS INTEGRATED TRAINING EXERCISES 3-21, THE MARINE CORPS COMBAT READINESS EVALUATION, MOUNTAIN EXERCISE 1-23, AND STEEL KNIGHT 23. Meticulously trained and supervised 7 SNCOs/Officers, conducting 12 monthly serialized inventories totaling $210,950. This achieved 100% accountability for all Det-1's MT Co's weapons and equipment, ensuring zero mishaps and safeguarding valuable assets.
-Precisely supervised the Due-In and Status File (DASF) for a vast inventory of 700 assets, significantly enhancing unit readiness and effectiveness.
-Meticulously monitored maintenance timelines, expedited repairs, and achieved an increase in unit readiness, directly impacting the Units ability to conduct operations.
-Successfully managed procurement of hotels and catering valued at $85,840, ensuring billeting and chow for 120 assigned Marines during inactive duty drill periods.
-Provided comprehensive training, supervision, and inspection to 6 Marines, fostering their growth in supply operations by diligently managing the Inspector Instructors' equipment, aligning it with the consolidated memorandum receipt, optimizing logistics support and bolstering operational readiness for the Site and its personnel.
-Directly oversaw the successful embarkation of more than 25 pieces of equipment.




-Meticulously trained and supervised 9 SNCOs/Officers, conducting 9 monthly serialized inventories totaling $146,755. This achieved 100% accountability for all Det-1's MT Co's weapons and equipment, ensuring zero mishaps and safeguarding valuable assets.
-Precisely supervised the Due-In and Status File (DASF) for a vast inventory of 450 assets, significantly enhancing unit readiness and effectiveness.
-Meticulously monitored maintenance timelines, expedited repairs, and achieved an increase in mission accomplishment.
-Successfully managed procurement of hotels and catering valued at $58,456.00, ensuring billeting and chow for 92 assigned Marines during critical drill periods.

-Instructed and guided eight SNCOs/Officers in the completion of eight separate monthly serialized inventories to obtain 100% accountability for all the Det's weapons and equipment within the armory valued over $1,000,000.
-Managed all of the Det's ICEE gear, totaling $655,998.93 resulting in zero findings during a Field Supply and Maintenance Analysis Office inspection.
-Solely oversaw the Due-In and Status File (DASF) for more than 2,287 pieces of gear, positively impacting the maintenance effort of the Detachment.
-Directly impacted the Det's budget by submitting lost shipments worth $634 to properly re-allocate the funds to reorder the gear needed.
-Procured hotels and catering worth $45,567.00, providing billeting and chow to over 80 assigned Marines during eight drill periods.
-Trained, supervised and inspected four SMCR Marines on the various functions of Supply IOT sustain their growth within their respective MOS.

PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS MAINTENANCE CHIEF, 1ST PLATOON, COMPANY B, 3D ASSAULT AMPHIBIAN BATTALION, 1ST MARINE DIVISION FROM 3 OCTOBER 2017 TO 21 AUGUST 2018. SERGEANT PFEIFFER SERVED AS THE PRIMARY DRIVING FORCE IN THE PREPARATION AND MAINTENANCE OF 12 AAVP7A1S DURING INTEGRATED TRAINING EXERCISE 1-18 AND STEEL KNIGHT 18, MAINTAINING AN OVERALL OPERATIONAL READINESS OF 93% ACROSS 47 TRAINING DAYS, SUCCESSFULLY SUPPORTING THREE INFANTRY BATTALIONS. FOLLOWING THE EFFECTIVE SUPPORT OF THE DIVISION LEVEL EXERCISE, SERGEANT PFEIFFER MAINTAINED AN OVERALL OPERATIONAL READINESS OF 100% ACROSS 32 TRAINING DAYS DURING NATIONAL TRAINING CENTER ROTATION 18-04 IN SUPPORT OF AN ARMY BRIGADE COMBAT TEAM IN PREPARATION FOR THEIR UPCOMING DEPLOYMENT TO IRAQ IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE. WHILE SERVING ABOARD COMBINED ARMS TRAINING CENTER CAMP FUJI, SERGEANT PFEIFFER INCREASED READINESS FROM 50% TO 100% OVER A FOUR WEEK PERIOD IN ORDER TO FACILITATE FIVE MECHANIZED OPERATIONS IN SUPPORT OF SECOND BATTALION, EIGHTH MARINES.
