7041 Aviation Operations Specialist
PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS AVIATION OPERATIONS SPECIALIST, MARINE FIGHTER ATTACK SQUADRON 115, SPECIAL PURPOSE MARINE AIR GROUND TASK FORCE-CRISIS RESPONSE-CENTRAL COMMAND, FROM APRIL 2018 TO OCTOBER 2018, IN SUPPORT OF OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE. FOLLOWING THE EARLY DEPARTURE OF THE OPERATIONS CHIEF, LANCE CORPORAL MARTINEZ DEMONSTRATED INITIATIVE IN ASSUMING ROLES BEYOND WHAT WOULD BE EXPECTED OF A MARINE OF HIS GRADE AND EXPERIENCE. WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT, HE SOUGHT OUT INCREASED RESPONSIBILITY, ACCOMPLISHING TASKS GENERALLY RESERVED FOR SENIOR ENLISTED AND JUNIOR OFFICERS. HE PLANNED, EXECUTED, AND SUPERVISED 11 PHYSICAL AND COMBAT FITNESS TESTS. HIS ATTENTION-TO-DETAIL DIRECTLY ATTRIBUTED TO THE GENERATION OF OVER 70 DAILY FLIGHT SCHEDULES, RESULTING IN THE EXECUTION OF OVER 680 COMBAT SORTIES ACCUMULATING MORE THAN 4,200 COMBAT HOURS. HIS DEDICATION ENABLED THE SQUADRON TO EXECUTE THE MISSION SAFELY, EFFICIENTLY, AND EFFECTIVELY. LANCE CORPORAL MARTINEZ'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE, AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE MARINE CORPS AND THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
7051 ARFF Section Leader
For meritorious service while serving as an Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Section Leader for Marine Wing Support Squadron 471, Aviation Combat Element CAX, 7-97, 4th Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Force Reserve, MCAGCC 29 Palms, California, from 7 to 21 June 1997. Sergeant Green consistently performed his demanding duties in an exemplary and highly professional manner. Through his diligent efforts, Sergeant Green contributed significantly to the squadron's ARFF branch, receiving outstanding results during the unit's Marine Corps Combat Readiness evaluation. Sergeant Green's efforts in planning, preparation, and execution of the ARFF section's inspection schedule ensured the coordination of pre-planned training demonstrations, ongoing exercise support missions and MCCRES evaluation tasks were completed in a safe, efficient, and professional manner. In addition, Sergeant Green's professional abilities and technical skills were central in his operation of a P-19 firefighting vehicle as a water source for the expeditious grading and compacting preparation of ALZ Sandhill's use in a C-130 mission. An energetic, industrious Marine who possesses a determined, conscientious leadership style, Sergeant Green's extraordinary accomplishments, innovative foresight, and dedication to duty reflect great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
7051 Crew Chief and Incident Commander
PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS CREW CHIEF AND INCIDENT COMMANDER, MARINE WING SUPPORT SQUADRON 371, MARINE AIR CONTROL GROUP 38, 3RD MARINE AIRCRAFT WING FROM MARCH 2025 TO APRIL 2025. AS THE LEAD FIREFIGHTER OF MARINE WING SUPPORT SQUADRON 371 EXPEDITIONARY FIREFIGHTING AND RESCUE, CORPORAL CONTRERAS LED A MAJOR EXPEDITIONARY FIREFIGHTING AND RESCUE VEHICLE AND RESCUE VEHICLE CREW OF FIVE PERSONNEL DURING OVER 200 HOURS SUPPORTING FUEL ARMING AND REFUELING POINTS WITH A MASS TOTAL OF 12,230 GALLONS OF FUEL IN SUPPORT OF WEAPONS AND TACTICS INSTRUCTOR COURSE 2-25. WHILE ASSUMING THE ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES AS CREW CHIEF AND INCIDENT COMMANDER, HE SUPPORTED NUMEROUS OPERATIONS ACCUMULATING OVER 40 HOURS OF EXPEDITIONARY FIREFIGHTING AND RESCUE STAND ALONE OPERATIONS SUPPORTING VARIOUS AIRCRAFTS. HE ALSO ASSISTED THE TRAINING CHIEF, ENSURING THE EXPEDITIONARY FIREFIGHTING AND RESCUE PLATOON OF 40 FIREFIGHTERS WAS PROPERLY TRAINED ACCORDING TO THE TRAINING AND READINESS MANUAL. CORPORAL CONTRERAS' EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONAL ABILITY, INITIATIVE, PERSERVERANCE, AND TOTAL DEDICATION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIM AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE MARINE CORPS AND THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
7051 Training NCO
For professional achievement in the superior performance of his duties while serving as Training Non-Commissioned Officer (NCO), Senior Rescue Man, and Crew Chief for the Aircraft Rescue Firefighting (ARFF) Branch, Marine Wing Support Squadron 271 from February 2011 to Present. Serving as the Training NCO, Lance Corporal Dawson supervised over 350 hours of classes for 18 Marines. Off duty, Lance Corporal Dawson accrued over 4500 volunteer hours at Western Carteret Fire Department where he, as a Lieutenant, oversaw ten volunteer firefighters. His volunteer work enabled him to become a direct liaison between ARFF and local aid departments, fostering the possibility for cross-training between military and civilian fire departments. His experience and knowledge enabled quality structural firefighting training by assisting in the design of realistic drills and advanced firefighting classes with practical applications. Lance Corporal Dawson's unyielding loyalty to the Armed Forces served him well as he is the first Lance Corporal to ever earn Firefighter of the Year Award for the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps. Lance Corporal Dawson's actions reflect great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
