MISSION IMPACT. He was instrumental in the upkeep and preservation of 11 magazines and 25 divisional spaces during two shipboard maintenance availabilities. This enabled the safe transfer and stowage of tons of ordnance valued at ten million dollars with zero mishaps during AMERICA's ammunition offload and onload in preparation for the patrol.




MOVING ON UP. Master-At-Arms Third Class Abate's extraordinary performance of his duties is at a Second Class Petty Officer level as he continually qualifies in additional duties.
DEPENDABLE AND CAPABLE. He skillfully off-loaded 4,000 crates of ammunition under austere working conditions with zero mishaps while supporting USNS Flint in the Fifth Fleet Area of Responsibility during high tempo missions. His exceptional ammunition handling skills were instrumental in the safe movement of over 6,000 pallets of ammunition, in support of the cross decking of the USN Drew (T-AKE-10) and USNS Chambers (T-AKE-11), contributing to the first-ever successful CART mission in the Area Of Responsibilty.
COMMAND PRESENCE. As the Urinalysis Program Coordinator Assistant, Petty Office Abate ensured over 120 individual samples were collected and processed in accordance with the Navy Drug Testing Policy ensuring zero discrepancies.




PO1 Nelson's leadership and professional knowledge enabled NCIS CFO to secure weapons, ammunition and instructors for essential training and qualifications. This training allowed 17 members of NCIS CFO to become deployable as NCIS Investigators throughout the central field office region.




As Ordnance Handling Team leader, he flawlessly supervised the inventory and management of over 70,000 rounds of ammunition dispersed across three Riverine Command Boats. His meticulous attention to detail during multiple underways, FCOs and weapons qualifications was critical to maintaining the integrity of the small arms inventory. A key player in the safe disposition of over 13,000 rounds of Hotel Coded ammunition, effectively increasing our storage capabilities.




As Lead Ammo Technician, directly supervised three personnel maintaining and enforcing regulations set by DOD, DOT, and Code of Federal Regulations for 1,000 ordnance-laden vehicles transporting to/from Fort Hunter Liggett, Camp Roberts, Naval Base Point Mugu, and Naval Base Ventura County with zero safety mishaps. Supervised, trained, and assisted in the storage, handling, issue, receipt, and transportation of over 250K lbs of ordnance with zero safety mishaps for 17 Naval Construction Forces active and reserve throughout the southwest region. Flawlessly prepared and executed the administrative paperwork required for four Field Training Exercises. Scheduled draw times, locations, deliveries, turn-in of expended and unexpended AA&E for all units to the Ammunition Supply Point for disposal after each exercise with 100% accountability.




EFFECTIVE LEADER- Weapons Department Leading Chief Petty Officer and Command Career Counselor for Maritime Civil Affairs and Security Training Command Detachment Alpha. Displaying exceptional leadership and resourcefulness, Chief Miller corrected the administrative deficiencies within his department consisting of 30 small arms and ensured the accountability of 25,000 rounds of ammunition. He created seven publication binders, 23 letters of designation and numerous marksmanship awards, resulting in training and qualification of 53 unit members and 14 additional Sailors from seven commands.

TECHNICAL MENTOR- He implemented the Maintenance and Material Management program which resulted in the designation of a 3MC, 3MA and 3M WCS resulting in the qualifaction of 15 3M Maintenance Persons and the completion of 430 Preventative Maintenance System checks.

NAVY FIRST - He also trained and certified two First Class Petty Officers as Command Career Counselors, conducted 64 Career Development Boards, four Re-enlistment packages, 30 worksheets for two navy-wide advancement cycles and conducted the Reserve Affiliation Success Workshop which resulted in a 45% improvement to the Career Development Program.
