HIS DETAILED GUIDANCE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE COMPLETION OF 446 MAINTENANCE ACTIONS CULMINATING IN AN "OUTSTANDING" CERTIFICATION OF NAVY OUTLYING FIELD CHOCTAW'S FOUR SHORE-BASED ARRESTING GEAR ENGINES AND THE IMPROVED FRESNEL LENS OPTICAL LANDING SYSTEM IN SUPPORT OF JOINT STRIKE FIGHTER FLIGHT OPERATIONS. PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS HANGAR BAY LEADING PETTY OFFICER ONBOARD USS WASP (LHD 1) FROM XXXXX XXXX TO XXXX XXXX. PETTY OFFICER SAILOR CONSISTENTLY PERFORMED HIS DEMANDING DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. HIS EXTENSIVE KNOWLEDGE OF AMPHIBIOUS FLIGHT DECK AND HANGAR BAY OPERATIONS WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE EXECUTION OF OVER 400 AIRCRAFT MOVES, OVER 500 ELEVATOR EVOLUTIONS AND MORE THAN 4,000 LAUNCH AND RECOVERY EVOLUTIONS IN SUPPORT OF MULTIPLE FLIGHT DECK CERTIFICATIONS INCLUDING NAVAIR ENVELOPE EXPANSION TESTING OF THE MV-22 OSPREY, UH-1 HUEY, AH-1 COBRA AIRCRAFT. FORRESTAL'S STRONG LEADERSHIP AND ATTENTION TO DETAIL DIRECTLY CONTRIBUTED TO THE SAFE MOVEMENT OF 5,410 TRANSIENT AIRCRAFT, 256,000 POUNDS OF CARGO, AND 3,987 PASSENGERS. HIS TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL MANAGEMENT ABILITY PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN PREPARATION FOR THE 2015 AND 2016 SAFETY AND AIR TERMINAL RECERTIFICATIONS, EARNING A NOTABLE 99.9 PERCENT GRADE IN BOTH INSPECTIONS AND ENSURING ALL EQUIPMENT WAS FULLY MISSION CAPABLE. HE WAS VITAL TO THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE BOARD OF INSPECTION SURVEY, AVIATION FACILITES CERTIFICATION, AND AVIATION READINESS QUALIFICATION AND WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR 180 AIR DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL AND THE SAFE EXECUTION OF OVER 15,000 AIRCRAFT LAUNCH AND RECOVERIES, 6,300 FLIGHT AND HANGAR DECK MOVES, AND 1,500 AIRCRAFT ELEVATOR OPERATIONS. ADDIITIONALLY, HIS EFFORTS ENABLED THE 24TH MARINE EXPEDITIONARY UNIT TO MAINTAIN A HIGH STATE OF READINESS AND FACILITATED AN EMBASSY EVACUATION FROM YEMEN AND SUSTAINMENT OPERATIONS DURING THE IWO JIMA'S DEPLOYMENT TO THE 5TH AND 6TH FLEET AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY. FINALLY, HIS LEADERSHIP WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR 33 ADVANCEMENTS TO INCLUDE ONE SENIOR CHIEF AND THREE CHIEF PETTY OFFICERS. MASTER CHIEF PARKMAN'S DISTINCTIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS, UNRELENTING PERSERVERANCE, AND STEADFAST DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIM AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
