A DEDICATED AND KNOWLEDGEABLE LEADER, HE WAS SINGLED OUT BY HIS SUPERIORS FOR HIS EXTRODIANRY PERFORMANCE WHILE LEADING 38 REFUELING EVOLUTIONS DURING HIS TIME ON BOARD SAN DIEGO. AS CHOSIN'S MOST RELIABLE AND METICULOUS OIL KING, HE HAS OVERSEEN THE SUCCESSFUL RECIEPT OF MORE THAN 800,000 GALLONS OF F-76 WITHOUT INCIDENT, AS WELL AS THE TESTING AND TRANSFER OF AN ADDITIONAL 7,000,000 GALLONS. AS THE LEADING JP5 FLIGHT DECK SUPERVISOR, HE EXPERTLY GUIDED HIS FLIGHT DECK TEAM IN THE TRANSFER OF 88,565 GALLONS OF JP5 FOR HELICOPTER OPERATIONS. HIS ATTENTION TO DETAIL ALLOWED FOR UNINTERUPTED AND ERROR-FREE OPERATION OF FOUR LM-2500 GAS TURBINE ENGINES, THREE ALLISON 501 K-17 GENERATORS AND TWO SH-60BS THROUGHOUT TWO DEPLOYMENTS. PETTY OFFICER KLINE'S SUPERIOR EXPERIENCE AND UNSWERVING DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITION OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.

PETTY OFFICER JONES COMPLETED 50 MATERIAL CHECKS AND ASSISTED IN 21 MORE, RESULTING IN AN OVERALL EFFECTIVE LIGHT OFF ASSESSMENT. AS A DRILLING ENGINE ROOM OPERATOR FOR EOC, HE CONTRIBUTED TO A SUPERB AND OUTSTANDING COMPLETION OF USS PRINCETON'S ASSESSMENT DEMONSTRATING SUPERIOR KNOWLEDGE DURING INSURV PREPARATIONS AND CORRECTING 143 DISCREPANCIES AND PERFORMING 47 MATERIAL CHECKS WITH LIMITED MANPOWER AND MATERIAL RESOURCES. PETTY OFFICER JONES ENSURED A SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF INSURV WHILE ATTACHED TO THE OIL LAB AS THE ASSISTANT OIL KING. HE SAFELY TRANSFERRED OVER 2,000,000 GALLONS OF FUEL WITHOUT INCIDENT. BY HIS EXCEPTIONAL ABILITY, PERSONAL INITIATIVE AND TOTAL DEDICATION TO DUTY, PETTY OFFICER JONES REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.


SHIP'S OIL KING AND EM01 LPO IN USS HOWARD FROM SEPTEMBER 2011 TO AUGUST 2012. GSM1 SMITH'S SKILLED LEADERSHIP ENSURED THE SAFE ONLOAD, STORAGE AND TRANSFER OF OVER 6,000,000 GALLONS OF F-76 AND 100,000 GALLONS OF JP-5 DURING OPERATIONS IN THE THIRD, FIFTH, AND SEVENTH FLEET AOR. HIS TECHNICAL ACUMEN LED TO THE TIMELY REPAIRS OF NR1 GTG, FUEL TANK GROUPS 2 AND 5 FILL VALVES, 1A GTM POWER TURBINE BRAKE, AND NR1 CPP SUCTION STRAINER. IN ADDITION, HIS SUPERIOR ENGINEERING EXPERTISE ENABLED EMERGENT REPAIRS TO A RUPTURED FUEL TANK IN THE SONAR COOLING ROOM. PETTY OFFICER SMITH'S PERSONAL INITIATIVE AND UNSWERVING DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITION OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.


CHIEF GOODMAN MANAGED 39 PERSONNEL DURING THE INITIAL OUTFITTING AND TRAINING CYCLE ABOARD USS ARLINGTON. HIS DETAILED PREPARATION AND GUIDANCE RESULTED IN USS ARLINGTON RECEIVING AN AMAZING FINAL LOA SCORE OF 98.0, A SCORE UNMATCHED BY ANY PREVIOUS LPD-17 CLASS SHIP. AS SHIP'S OIL KING, HE ESTABLISHED THE SHIP'S OIL LAB AND TRAINED UP SOME OF THE FINEST OIL KINGS FLEET WIDE. HIS EFFORTS CULMINATED IN THE SUCCESSFUL TRANSFER OF 900,000 GALLONS OF F-76, 34,000 GALLONS L/O, AND 56,000 GALLONS OF OIL WASTE WITH ZERO MISHAPS. HIS MANY ACCOMPLISHMENTS ABOARD INCLUDE FOUR SUBORDINATES RECEIVING SAILOR OF THE QUARTER AWARDS, 100% RETENTION, 70% ADVANCEMENT AND FOUR PERSONNEL ENROLLED IN COLLEGE. CHIEF GOODMAN'S DECKPLATE LEADERSHIP AND UNSWERVING DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITION OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.
