GM2 (EXW) is strongly recommended for a Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for performance of his duties as Reaction Force Team Leader and Armorer at Coastal Riverine Group One Detachment Guam from June 2015 to August 2018. An outstanding leader, he consistently demonstrated commitment, devotion, and technical knowledge far beyond that expected of a Second Class Petty Officer. He confidently carried out his duties in a decisive and effective manner, achieving exceptional results and consistently setting high combat readiness standards. Maintaining an outstanding record of effective leadership, productivity and hard work, he made an immense impact on CRG-1 Detachment Guam.




PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT AS SECURITY REACTION FORCE MEMBER, DELTA SECTION, OPERATIONAL FORCES DIVISION, SECURITY DEPARTMENT FROM APRIL 2017 TO JUNE 2018. HIGHLY MOTIVATED, PETTY OFFICER COSTCO PROVIDED OVER 2,000 HOURS OF ARMED, FIXED AND ROVING WATCHES INVOLVING 6 ZONES, THE OFFICER AND ENLISTED BROWS, 3 PIER ENTRY CONTROL POINT WATCHES, AND RANDOM ANTI-TERRORISM MEASURES. IN ADDTION, IT2 PARTICIPATED IN SHIPBOARD DRILLS DURING PHASE II, PHASE III, AND PHASE IV OF FORCE PROTECTION EXERCISES, PLUS THE NAVY-WIDE FORCE PROTECTION EXERCISE, "SOLID CURTAIN" IN SUPPORT OF COMMAND'S ANTI-TERRORISM/FORCE AND LAW PROTECTION PROGRAM. PETTY OFFICER COSTCO'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE, AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIM, AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENT WHILE SERVING AS SHIP'S BACK UP REACTION FORCE LEADER, FROM 15 MARCH 2014 TO 26 APRIL 2014. AS A MEMBER OF THE SHIPS's SELF-DEFENSE FORCE DURING FORCE PROTECTION EXERCISE 14-2, PETTY OFFICER JADEN'S TEAM SPIRIT, OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE, AND PERSONAL INITIATIVE WERE INSTRUMENTAL IN THE EFFICIENCY AND OVERALL SUCCESS OF THE SHIP'S FPEX UNIT LEVEL CERTIFICATION. ADDITIONALLY, DURING THIS 36 HOUR ATFP EXERCISE, BM3 JADEN TIRELESSLY AND FLAWLESSLY EXECUTED ANTI-TERRORISM TACTICS RESULTING IN AN OUTSTANDING OVERALL GRADE OF 94% AND PASSING 15 OUT OF 16 EXERCISE SCENARIOS. HIS EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE, AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




For professional achievement in the superior performance of his duties during NMCB 15's March field Exercise "Operation Bearing Duel 11". Identifying a need to provide general military training to the many new members of Alfa Company, Petty Officer Johnson developed and facilitated 4 training sessions that unequivocally filled the void and developed and reinforced the knowledge and abilities of the Company as a whole. Demonstrating exceptional leadership ability and technical expertise while serving as Platoon Leader for the Quick Reaction Force, Construction Mechanic Second Class Johnson was instrumental in the development of junior troops in tactical, general military and operational concepts and skills. Utilizing his years of field experience, he planned, led and flawlessly executed 3 combat patrols, each time leading 5 junior troops and impressing upon them every aspect of the troop leading process. Demonstrating thorough defensive knowledge, he established an LP/OP as part of the Alfa Company lines, the first and only company to provide this capability. Construction Mechanic Second Class Johnson's relentless attention to detail, devotion to duty and exceptional performance reflected great credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of United States Naval Service.




MERITORIOUS SERVICE AS SENIOR ENLISTED LEADER, EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT OFFICE, JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR HICKAM, HAWAII, FROM AUGUST 2015 TO OCTOBER 2018. DEMONSTRATING EXCEPTIONAL MANAGERIAL AND LEADERSHIP SKILLS, SERGEANT COPELAND'S RELENTLESS PERSEVERANCE PROVIDED DIRECT SUPPORT TO THE COMMANDER AS A KEY MEMBER OF THE JOINT BASE EMERGENCY OPERATIONS CENTER. HIS OVERSIGHT PROVIDED ONE CLEAR AND ACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF THE CURRENT SECURITY SITUATION DURING FOUR POTUS VISITS. HE COLLABORATED WITH FEDERAL, STATE AND FIRST REACTION FORCES ON EMERGENCY ACTIONS PLANS SAFEGUARDING THE NATION'S MOST VALUABLE ASSET. SERGEANT COPELAND'S INVOLVEMENT IN THE EXECUTION OF 33 REAL TIME C2 EVENTS AND 20 MAJOR EXERCISES, ACCURATELY ASSESSED INSTALLATION READINESS AND CAPTURED VALUABLE DATA FOR LEADERS. FACILITATING PRODUCTION EXCELLENCE, HE MANAGED THE LARGEST FOOTPRINT OF CHEMICAL, BIOLOGICAL, RADIOLOGICAL AND NUCLEAR OCCUPATIONAL FORCE IN THE PACIFIC AND WAS SIMULTANEOUSLY RESPONSIBLE FOR 11 MANAGERS, 253 TENANT UNITS, $7 MILLION IN WARTIME ASSETS AND THE DEFENSIVE OVERSIGHT OF CONVENTIONAL AND NONCONVENTIONAL POSTURING. BY HIS STERLING ACCOMPLISHMENTS, PERSEVERANCE AND DEVOTION TO DUTY, SERGEANT COPELAND REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED AIR FORCE.
