Ship's Serviceman (SH) Eval Examples

NOTE: On October 1, 2019, the Ship's Serviceman rating was changed to Retail Services Specialist (RS).


Led his team in four successful NEXCOM Ship Store Officer Courses, training a total of 55 Sales Officers and conducting seven 1.2 Inspections ensuring operational readiness. Diligently trained 12 personnel on Ships Serviceman fundamentals and General Military topics resulting in a 30 percent advancement rate. Provided over 80 hours of ROM II training for 37 Record Keepers, 200 hours of technical support for 63 afloat forces, and imaged over 200 ship's computers to comply with Navy IT21 Security Awareness Requirements.




SH1 established operational control after identifying deficiencies and shortcomings in the contractor CAC application and verification process. She trained her 3 COTRs on the proper application procedures resulting in a 75% decrease in application delays and a corresponding increase in security and accountability of DoD property.




Safely handled 1,500,000 gallons of fuel and conducted 678 quality assurance fuel tests in support of military aircraft and fuel farm operations with zero mishaps. A proven team player who contributed significantly to the overall success of the fuel farm's mission. Single-handedly facilitated 17 GMTs for 11 Sailors, resulting in 100% completion of yearly military training.




SH2 Chastain served as CORIVRON ONE B Supply ALPO during pre-mobilization to Djibouti Africa, Jebel Ali, UAE, Manama, Bahrain and RIMPAC 2016. He led a team of four Sailors, completed 12 monthly supply reports with 100% accuracy. Completed 475 supply transactions, equipped 50% of the command with Personal Gear Issue (PGI), resulting in a 50% increase in unit readiness. SH2 ordered, received, issued, and tracked PGI gear for 48 Sailors in CRS-1 Bravo Company worth $422,400. SH2 maintained accountability for all Wave 8/8A PGI valued over $100,000.




-Expert Manager. As S-3 Records Keeper, he ordered, managed, and accounted for $93K in retail merchandise. He executed 25 OSO transfers valued at $31K while transferring $30K to (ship's) MWR fund. His keen attention to detail resulted in an unprecedented 99.05% accountability accuracy during Supply Management Certification, which directly contributed to Sales Division's grade of "OUTSTANDING" and an overall score of 95.73%. He was a primary catalyst why (ship's) Supply Department was the first ship in the Navy to certify at the 1.1 event!




Dependable sailor who goes beyond his duties to get the task done at hand without fail.

When first arrived onboard, he relieved his fellow petty officer of half of the workload to effectively reestablish S-3 as a division and now serves as vending operator, laundry supervisor and barber. As vending operator, he maintained sanitation of one candy and two can drink vending machines making a profit over $10K in sales. As laundry supervisor and one of the operators, he successfully processed over 400 press deck work and over 2500 lbs in bulk deck work. He also assisted crew members from the USS Michigan in processing over 1000 lbs. in bulk deck work. During COMPTUEX, he operated the ship's barbershop as the barber, maintaining sanitation and putting fellow shipmates back in military regulation by providing haircuts throughout the command. He has gained knowledge while attending firefighting school.

SH2 Brown is still growing in the command through qualifications and expertise in his daily duties as ALPO of S-3 division, and is looking to continue that stride for future deployments. He is able to obtain knowledge from fellow mentors and peers alike.
