MOS 824X Foreign Exchange Officer

For outstanding meritorious achievement while serving as Foreign Exchange Officer, Current Operations Officer, and Remain Behind Element Operations Officer, 6th Marine Regiment, 2d Marine Division, from July 2017 to June 2020. Major Sacchi's leadership was critical in the execution of multiple high priority missions while strengthening the longstanding military partnership between the United States and France. Major Sacchi was instrumental to the success of Exercise Bold Alligator 2017, Exercise Burmese Chase 2018 and 2019, and Exercise Semper Thunder 2019. His detailed planning and mastery of amphibious operations improved the Marine Corps' capability to execute forcible entry from the sea and his ability to bridge the gap between cultures and languages was instrumental in building bilateral and multilateral partnerships. He led the Exercise Control Group during multiple combat readiness evaluations, resulting in improvement across all warfighting functions and enabled units to become certified for world-wide operations. He provided language, tactical and cultural expertise that helped prepare two units for deployment and numerous Marines for bilateral training opportunities. Major Sacchi was the lead liaison for all engagements between Marine units aboard Camp Lejeune and coordinated the Division's visit to France for the observance of the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Belleau Wood. By his bold leadership, wise judgment, and complete dedication to duty, Major Sacchi reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the French Foreign Legion, the French Republic, the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
