THROUGHOUT HIS 23 YEARS OF SERVICE, SENIOR CHIEF PETTY OFFICER GREGORY DISTINGUISHED HIMSELF BY EXCEPTIONAL DUTY PERFORMANCE IN POSITIONS OF INCREASING RESPONSIBILITY. DURING HIS CAREER, HE ALWAYS PUT SAILORS FIRST AND CONSISTENTLY PERFORMED HIS DUTIES WITH EXTRAORDINARY LEADERSHIP, INTEGRITY, AND SUPERIOR SKILL THAT IMPROVED EVERY UNIT TO WHICH HE WAS ATTACHED. DURING THE JAPAN EARTHQUAKE DISASTER HE LED AN UNPRECEDENTED EVACUATION EFFORT FOR OVER 1000 SAILORS AND THEIR FAMILIES OUT OF COMMANDER FLEET ACTIVITIES YOKOSUKA. HIS LEADERSHIP WAS A BEACON DURING A TIME OF INTENSE CONFUSION, ANXIETY AND TURMOIL. DUE TO HIS EFFORTS, CDS-15 WAS ABLE TO RECONSTITUTE AND BE BATTLE READY IN LESS THAN 48 HOURS AND ALL SQUADRON FAMILY MEMBERS WERE SAFELY RELOCATED TO THE UNITED STATES. UPON RETIREMENT, CHIEF GREGORY IS RECOGNIZED FOR DISTINGUISHED PERFORMANCE OF DUTY THAT REFLECTS GREAT CREDIT UPON HIMSELF, AND UPHELD THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




DEMONSTRATING EXCEPTIONAL LEADERSHIP AND METICULOUS ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS, PETTY OFFICER NOVACK SUCCESSFULLY LED THE SHIP'S OFFICE THROUGH TWO ARDUOUS DEPLOYMENTS AND TWO TYPE COMMANDERS' ADMINISTRATIVE INSPECTIONS, RESULTING IN HIGHLY EFFICIENT OPERATIONS AND IMPROVED CUSTOMER SERVICE TO THE CREW. A Senior Enlisted Leader for the past 26 1/2 years, Senior Chief McHale has distinguished himself by exceptionally meritorious service in a succession of positions of greater importance and responsibility as evidenced by: Direct assistant to the Chief of Navy Reserve (CNR); Serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader (SEL) for Golden Coyote; Serving as the transportation Leading Chief Petty Officer for the Commodore of CTG 41.8; Deploying for and supporting the Role 1 Medical Clinic at International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan as the Clinic SEL; and serving as the Senior Enlisted Leader for Expeditionary Medical Facility Dallas One, Det R. In these positions, Senior Chief McHale has coordinated Flag Officer conferences and symposiums, coordinated medical support for over 1,000 Army and National Guard units, supervised the safe transport of patients during Haiti relief operations, and provided medical support as the Clinical Manager of the Role 1 Medical Clinic at the International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) in Kabul, Afghanistan which provided care to thousands of US and NATO forces from 18 Countries. As a Senior Enlisted Leader, Senior Chief McHale has led, has mentored, and has recognized the contributions of the Sailors serving with him. Without question, Senior Chief McHale's personal initiative and unswerving devotion to duty for over 26 1/2 years of service reflect credit upon himself and are in keeping with the highest traditions and standards of the United States Naval Service.




From 15 March 1992 to 30 April 2016 culminating as ASW AWT Lead/Co-Rating Lead, Center for Surface Combat Systems, Dahlgren VA. Throughout his 24 years of service, Chief Petty Officer Saurkraut distinguished himself by exceptional duty performance in positions of escalating responsibility.
