Combat Systems Leading Petty Officer



USS SHANNON KENT Combat Systems Leading Petty Officer. Demonstrated superb leadership and technical expertise by providing outstanding technical support to the commanding officer and Strike Group Eight subordinate commands during two full work-up cycles and EASTPAC deployments. His experience and understanding of shipboard networks resulted in his selection to participate in the consolidated afloat networks and enterprise service operational re-assessment, directly impacting future afloat installations.




NON-STOP EXCELLENCE. Served as Combat Systems Leading Petty Officer, Mission Module 3MC, 30MM technician, VBSS Team Member, and SAR Swimmer at COMLCSRONONE and COMLCSRONTWO onboard USS Freedom, USS Fort Worth, and USS Detroit. Led 16 Sailors in the planning and execution of four mission package on- and off-loads, eight PICO inspections, the installation of 24 Force Revisions, and completion of over 3000 PMS checks with an overall accomplishment rate of 96%, directly contributing to the mission readiness of Seventh and Fourth Fleets.
VERSATILE SAILOR. Supported Medical and Damage Control Training Teams, served as Command Fitness Leader and MWR president which resulted in four Blue and Green "H" awards, eight successful EOC and light off inspections, a 99% completion rate of PFA cycles over five years, and an overall increase in crew morale during on hull and underway times.
LEADERSHIP. His intrusive leadership and mentoring abilities resulted in the Battle "E" award being received by USS Fort Worth, the advancement of six sailors, six NAMs, four reenlistments, one Junior Sailor of the Year, and eight Sailors enrolled in college, onboard four different ships.




Combat Systems Leading Petty Officer, USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS-2). As Total Ship Computing Environment Lead Supervisor, created ship-specific Combat Drill Cards to qualify TSCE Supervisors, Radio Watch Teams, and Integrated Combat watch teams for use on all future LCS-2 variant Ships. Instructed all facets of TSCE Supervisor to the Company CUBIX which will be building state of the art Avatar type computer training for all Future INDEPENDENCE class Ships. Implemented an Antenna Radiation Matrix to be used by SESEF range for all future Communication Drills. Led his department through two USS INDEPENDENCE Post Shakedown Availabilities and 11 Corrective and Preventative Maintenance Availabilities completing over 400 maintenance checks and writing over 250 Mission Critical Jobs.
