Aviation Boatswain's Mate - Handling (ABH)


-As Fly 3 Aircraft Director, she was pivotal in the training and qualification of 10 aircraft directors, the safe execution of 22 aircraft firefighting drills and providing 50 hours of training to 13 junior sailors qualifying as 3M Maintenance Man. Her skilled performance was crucial to the launch and recovery of 984 aircraft, 293 aircraft moves and 91 elevator runs yielding the safe, smooth and successful completion of USS Carl Vinson's Flight Deck Certification by Commander Naval Air Forces Pacific.




Coordinated and oversaw work on the largest Ballistic Missile Submarine overhaul ever attempted. He managed a budget in excess of 200 million dollars and supported a fulltime workforce of over 120 contract and military personnel.




While deployed with the USNS Comfort (T-AH 20), Petty Officer Sailor ranked among the top three junior Sailors in Air Operation. His "can do" attitude was an inspiration to peers as well as his supervisors. Through expertise and knowledge, he contributed toward the successful movement of 3,345 passengers, 210,000 pounds of cargo and 33,400 gallons of JP-5, resulting in over 200 safe and efficient sorties.

While deployed with the USNS Mercy (T-AH 20), Petty Officer Sailor coordinated and supervised Damage Control circuit training for over 250 personal during deployment activation, significantly contributing to the ship's overall safety. He distinguished himself as an outstanding leader by training and qualifying five flight deck salvage crewman in fire and rescue procedures. He expertly inspected and prepared all critical firefighting equipment in support of over 280 flight deck operation missions. His technical expertise was instrumental in the safe transit of more than 900 personnel to mission sites, movement of 1,300 pallets, execution of 10 Vertical Replenishment evolutions and the transfer of over 40,000 gallons of JP-5.




A top performer and leader who stands head and shoulders above his peers. While working in Recycling his ability and work ethic in collecting, sorting, and selling recycling materials significantly increased the department's revenue by 75% and garnered accolades from BUMED external inspection team. He packed and delivered 5,000 pounds of recycled batteries in less than three months, a feat never before accomplished by recycling personnel. Assigned as the primary Hazardous Material Waste supervisor, ABH2 Myers has safely inspected stored and transported over 200 containers of hazardous waste with zero mishaps. This resulted in decreased hazardous waste disposal and saved the command $15,000 in associated costs.




PLAYED A CENTRAL ROLE IN THE REDEPLOYMENT OF 925 SAILORS DURING THE MOST DRAMATIC DRAWDOWN OF NAVAL FORCES IN IRAQ IN THE HISTORY OF OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, INCLUDING THE REDEPLOYMENT OF THE BASE COMMAND GROUP FOR AL ASAD AIR BASE AND A TASK FORCE DETAINEE GUARD UNIT. HIS WELL QUALIFIED ACTIONS CONTRIBUTED TO A SEAMLESS 60% DECREASE IN THE SAILOR FOOTPRINT IN IRAQ DURING HIS TENURE.




- As the Fleet Liaison Division Leading Chief Petty Officer, Operations Department, NAS Fallon, Nevada, he led 39 personnel through over 8,000 fueling evolutions, ensuring the safe and timely transfer of more than 300,000 gallons of fuel to the myriad of operational units supported by NAS Fallon. His unprecedented mentorship and deckplate leadership increased Fleet Liaison's retention rate to 98% and advancement to 60%. In addition, his involvement with the Hazardous Waste program helped identify problems and develop innovative solutions that ultimately saved $200,000 annually in the recycling of hazardous waste.
