OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT WHILE SERVING AS MASTER HELMSMAN ABOARD USS DANIEL ATKINS (FF-127) ON THE EVENING OF 10 JANUARY 2021. DURING THIS PERIOD, PETTY OFFICER NELSON RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY AND EXPEDITIOUSLY TOOK OVER HELM CONTROL AFTER AN EXPLOSION BELOW DECKS. THROUGH HIS QUICK AND APPROPRIATE ACTIONS, THE USS DANIEL ATKINS MANAGED TO AVOID COLLISION WITH MULTIPLE SMALL CRAFT OPERATING IN THE AREA WHILE PETTY OFFICER NELSON SIMULTANEOUSLY CONDUCTED DAMAGE ASSESSMENT AND DAMAGE CONTROL IN AFFECTED SPACES, COORDINATING REPAIRS WHILE KEEPING THE CHAIN OF COMMAND INFORMED ON THEIR STATUS. PETTY OFFICER NELSON'S EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




MERITORIOUS SERVICE IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HER DUTIES WHILE SERVING AS SMALL BOAT COXSWAIN, MILITARY SURVEY TECHNICIAN, AND RAPID LITTORAL SURVEY OPERATOR FROM OCTOBER 2016 TO FEBRUARY 2020. PETTY OFFICER CYNTHIA CHARLES' SKILLFUL HELMSMANSHIP WAS INSTRUMENTAL DURING HER FOUR DEPLOYMENTS SPANNING 159 DAYS. DURING THIS PERIOD, SHE CONTRIBUTED TO THE COLLECTION OF MORE THAN 2100 NAUTICAL MILES OF SURVEY DATA AND SPENT 25 DAYS AWAY FROM THE COMMAND FOR TRAINING. ADDITIONALLY, HER TECHNICAL EXPERTISE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN THE PREVENTION OF A VESSEL MISHAP INVOLVING ANOTHER VESSEL AND PERSONNEL INJURIES. MOREOVER, PETTY OFFICER CHARLES WAS A KEY FACTOR IN INCREASING THE COMMAND'S PRT PASS RATE TO ONE HUNDRED PERCENT FOR CYCLE 19-1, INCREASING COMMAND READINESS. PETTY OFFICER CHARLES' DISTINCTIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS, RELENTLESS EFFORTS, AND STEADFAST DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HERSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




MERITORIOUS SERVICE WHILE SERVING AS LEADING PETTY OFFICER AND WORK CENTER SUPERVISOR OF DECK DEPARTMENT FROM MARCH 2014 TO APRIL 2019. DURING THIS PERIOD, PETTY OFFICER RANDY OWENS PERFORMED HIS DEMANDING DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. HE LED DECK SEAMEN IN THE PRESERVATION OF OVER 80 SPACES, QUALIFIED 70 JUNIOR SAILORS IN THE MAINTENANCE PROGRAM, AND COMPLETED ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF SPOT CHECKS FOR DECK DEPARTMENT. IN ADDITION, AS A MASTER HELMSMAN, HE WAS AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE SEAMANSHIP TRAINING TEAM WHERE HE MANAGED 80 SAILORS DURING 45 CRANE OPERATIONS, 30 SEA AND ANCHOR DETAILS, AND 10 UNDERWAY REPLENISHMENTS, CONTRIBUTING TO A SUCCESSFUL DEPLOYMENT TO FIFTH AND SEVENTH FLEET AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY. HIS EFFORTS SIGNIFICANTLY CONTRIBUTED TO PEARL HARBOR'S HIGH STATE OF READINESS AND ABILITY TO EXECUTE ALL TASKINGS. PETTY OFFICER OWENS' EXCEPTIONAL PROFESSIONALISM, UNRELENTING PERSEVERANCE AND LOYAL DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




MERITORIOUS SERVICE IN THE SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE OF HIS DUTIES AS WORK CENTER SUPERVISOR, DECK DIVISION, ONBOARD USS PATRIOT FROM 13 OCTOBER 2013 TO 23 FEBRUARY 2016. PETTY OFFICER LILIHAMMER PERFORMED HIS DEMANDING DUTIES IN AN EXEMPLARY AND HIGHLY PROFESSIONAL MANNER. HE EXPERTLY LED TWELVE SAILORS THROUGH THE SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF FOUR COMMAND LEVEL CERTIFICATIONS ENCOMPASSING MATERIAL MAINTENANCE, MINE WARFARE, SEARCH AND RESCUE, AND ANTI-TERRORISM. ADDITIONALLY, HIS ABILITIES AS MASTER HELMSMAN ENABLED THE SHIP'S SAFE NAVIGATION THROUGH EIGHTY MISHAP-FREE SPECIAL EVOLUTIONS IN SUPPORT OF EIGHT MULTINATIONAL EXERCISES. PETTY OFFICER LILIHAMMER'S PROFESSIONALISM, PERSONNAL INITIATIVE AND UNWAVERING DEVOTION TO DUTY REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WERE IN KEEPING WITH THE HIGHEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL SERVICE.




HEROIC ACHIEVEMENT WHILE SERVING AS RIVER ASSAULT CRAFT HELMSMAN, REPUBLIC OF SOUTH VIETNAM. DURING THIS PERIOD, SEAMAN ADAMSON DISTINGUISHED HIMSELF IN THE FACE OF ENEMY FORCES WHILE SERVING ON THE BUSSAC RIVER, WITHIN THE GEOGRAPHICAL BOUNDARIES OF THE CAMBODIAN BORDER, EXTENDING TO CAN THO. SEAMAN ADAMSON, ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, WHILE ENGAGED IN COMBAT WITH HOSTILE NVN SOLDIERS, PERFORMED IN A MANNER THAT ENSURED THE SAFETY OF THE CREW OF PBR-122 AND OTHER RIVER DIVISION 535 FLOTILLA FORCES. HIS CALM DEMEANOR AND RELIABLE PERFORMANCE AIDED IN THE SUCCESS OF OPERATION SEALORD, AN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE TO PREVENT ENEMY ATTEMPTS TO SMUGGLE WEAPONRY ON THE WATERWAYS OF THE MEKONG DELTA. SEAMAN ADAMSON'S PERFORMANCE REFLECTED CREDIT UPON HIMSELF AND WAS IN KEEPING WITH THE FINEST TRADITIONS OF THE UNITED STATES NAVAL FORCES OF SOUTH VIETNAM AND THE UNITED STATES NAVY.
