- EXPERT TECHNICIAN. Maintained over 60 critical DC system gauges; led the removal, overhaul and replacement of 11 AFFF hose reels, completed over 500 PMS checks, and executed 150 material demonstrations during DCMA. Assisted in the emergent repair of the Aft AFFF Master SOPV while underway, preventing an early return to port and allowing HALSEY to continue TYCOM Sea Trials as scheduled.

TECHNICAL EXPERT. His knowledge was put to the test when he assisted in the layout and manufacturing of bolt holes to install required Main Drainage activation valve returning a critical system to full operation with zero effect on Engineering Operations.
TEAMWORK. He qualified faster than his peers in all aspects. His rapid qualification and excellent watch standing supported all Engineering requirements to allow the ship to meet all missions above and beyond required duties.

TEAMWORK. As member of ship's VBSS he conducted 3 boardings which provided Humanitarian Assistance and enforced international law while at-sea. As hot suit for flight quarters he oversaw safe operations of 136 helicopter landings and 28 MV-22 landings.

Military Bearing. Her uniform appearance and military bearing is well above the standard and sets a standard to maintain a unified chain of command.
KNOWLEDGEABLE. As Flight Deck Team leader she leads a team of 4 personnel in response to any aircraft casualty which may occur and assisted in the qualification of 8 personnel to provide constant replacements for future operations.

Expert Organizational Skills. As Repair Division Repair Parts Petty Officer she oversees the procurement of $120,000 of maintenance and consumable parts to maintain daily operations.
Excellent Trainer. Personally responsible for the qualification of 75 personnel in advance Damage Control qualification. Provided training within DCRS 4 and achieved designation as Top Locker during two Command Damage Control Olympics.
Teamwork. Her rapid qualification within Main Engineering watches proves she is a capable watch stander who performs well above all other watch standers within her watch team. As Engineering PFA coordinator she oversaw the weigh-in of 105 personnel during Fall BCA with zero errors.

**A STELLAR SAILOR POSSESSING ENDLESS MOTIVATION**

SUPERIOR LEADERSHIP: Demonstrated superior performance essential for the preparation and execution of Coronado's INSURV inspection, the first for the LCS-2 variant class. His attention to detail was instrumental in the Damage Control Locker inventory of 52 kits and paved the way for success for the ship's inspection. He Also contributed to the troubleshooting and repair of the ship's Watermist, SCBA Charging Station and AFFF Station to ensure maximum plant operation. His superior training skills enabled him to meticulously mentor 27 crew members, qualifying them Internal Rover and Engineering Plant Technician.
METHODICAL: DC3 maintained and accounted for DC and Main Propulsion Equipment over ER09 and EAO1. As divisional Work Center Supervisor, he meticulously executed 3000 maintenance assignments, 50 successful spot checks totaling 380 man hrs. His dedication to mission maintained 100% accountability of SCBA, HFP and coordinated efforts with 20 contractors in AFFF and Watermist shoots totaling 800 man hrs, ensuring operational war fighting capability. These actions were integral to ER09 Division's success and ensured that USS Coronado was maintained at the highest state of readiness.
CONSCIENTIOUS COMMUNITY MEMBER: His devotion to volunteerism presented a positive image of the Navy in the community. He devoted 5 years accumulating 260 hours of community service receiving the MOVSM doing restoration work aboard USS Midway.




** THE BACKBONE AND DRIVING FORCE BEHIND HALSEY'S DC ORGANIZATION! **

- DECKPLATE LEADER. Led 24 Sailors from four W/C on critical repairs to NR 1 CRP system, fire main piping to the Sonar Dome, NR 5 Fire Pump, CIWS, MK45 (MOD-4), NR 2 SWSP, and approximately 200 hours of troubleshooting and correcting the VCHT system. His dedication saved HALSEY from an emergent port visit and ensured sustained operational readiness throughout the 2017-2018 deployment.
- SUPERB WATCHSTANDER. Instrumental in two Junior Officers earning their EOOW letters and will soon earn one himself! Trained and qualified 11 Sailors as Sounding and Security, laying the foundation of proper watch standing warranting the safety of HALSEY.

BRILLIANT ASSESSOR-Chief McCord thoroughly conducts in-depth inspections on portable and installed firefighting systems; his eye for detail assist many ships in finding impairments, in which he then instructs the repair and retest of those systems for safety. He educates the Sailors on proper use of equipment and on performing dependable maintenance, on a daily basis.
EXCEPTIONAL INSTRUCTOR-His exceptional training was fundamental and effective in preparing 350 Sailors, on shipboard firefighting, response to structural damage and flooding scenarios, as well as decontamination and recovery from an underway CBR attack; a critical element in the MOB-D portion of the Fleet's Basic Phase certifying process.
PROFESSIONAL SAILOR-Every Sailor he interacts with is treated with the upmost respect and courtesy. He sets and maintains a high level of Navy professional standards while visiting and conducting inspections with the ships on the waterfront. As an assessor, he effectively coaches the Sailors on what the Navy's mission is and instructs them on how to operate and repair equipment for the safety of all.

Petty Officer XXXXXXX is an integral member of the crew who made himself invaluable through the prompt completion of tasks and constant mission readiness. His contributions were so notable that even those outside of Crew 206 recognized his abilities. While TAD onboard USS INDEPENDENCE with Crew 201 and 202, Petty Officer XXXXXXX assisted with INSURV preparations by completing 120 material maintenance requirements, operational tests of firefighting systems, repairs on reverse osmosis units, and upkeep of ship's VCHT system. In addition, he helped train and qualify 6 personnel as internal rovers, engineering plant technicians, and basic damage control qualification. His ability to integrate with and perform well with other crews while meeting his obligations to Crew 206, demonstrated his commitment to excellence.




As ER09 Leading Petty Officer, he lead CARNEY's Damage Control petty officers who greatly improved the material condition of the ship allowing for a certification score of 100% for Light Off Assessment following the 5A2 availability. As ER04 Work Center Supervisor, he oversaw the planning and execution of 200 maintenance checks and 38 spot checks with a 100% completion rate. His superb attention to detail and unrivaled drive directly contributed to USS CARNEY's (DDG 64) outstanding score on 3MI-15 and recent ULTRA-E.




DC1 arranged indoctrination instruction for all Sailors arriving at PSNS, ensuring 100% compliance with shipyard safety training. He mentored other Sailors and new shipyard employees while on AT at the NNSY Rigging Shop, safely and efficiently rigging parts for several projects, saving the Navy $8,000.




DC1 Thomas' performance as Repair Division Acting Leading Chief Petty Officer and Damage Control Training Team Coordinator has been exemplary throughout his tour onboard. His extraordinary technical skill, outstanding initiative, strong leadership, and unparalleled expertise contributed immeasurably to the ship's success throughout a complex CNO Selected Restricted Availability, Light off Assessment, 3M Certification, TYCOM Material Inspection, Damage Control Material Assessment, USS MUSTIN ’s 2012 Board of Inspection and Survey, MOB-D 1.4 and Engineering Operation Certification.




Master Trainer. Overseeing every aspect of Damage Control training, he successfully planned and executed over 106 intense and realistic Damage Control and integrated training scenarios. He trained 24 DCTT members, 7 duty Fire Marshalls and 330 ship's crew personnel in Damage Control readiness. His efforts resulted in a grade of "Ready to Light Off" and his team earned early Main Space Fire drill certification during light off Assessment.




Key INSURV Player. He spearheaded habitability and damage control material maintenance in preparation for TYCOM Material inspection and INSURV. Seamlessly organized and managed the repairs of 600 Damage Control material discrepancies and coordinated the demonstration of 50 complex system checks during INSURV. His efforts produced a grade of "SATISFACTORY" at INSURV. Quality of life in crew berthing increased significantly as a result of his oversight of detailed grooms of showers, faucets, and heads, and various material upgrades to living areas. He led a ship-wide Damage Control Tiger Team which ensured that the ship's watertight fittings and portable equipment were inspection-ready. His focus and determination resulted in USS MUSTIN's damage control and habitability mission areas attaining a score of green during INSURV.




Brilliant Manager. He coordinated a multitude of complex depot-level repairs in preparation for TYCOM Material Inspection, INSURV and Engineering Operation Certification. Developed a brilliant plan and oversaw the execution of weld repairs on NR 1/3 SWS Pump, STBD Fireman Riser, NR 2/5 Firepump, FWD SW Compensating Seawater Service system piping, and replacement of 4" of Plumb Waste Drainage piping which allowed USS MUSTIN to maintain mission readiness and successfully execute INSURV. Additionally, he planned and managed the repairs of critical INSURV restrictive on MER1, AUX 1, AUX 1 and MER 2 eductors, saving the Navy over $70K.




Expert Damage Controlman. He aggressively pursued damage control readiness ship-wide, improving damage control readiness and level of knowledge. Motivated and trained each duty section into combat-ready Damage Control units. He spent over 150 off duty hours training duty section personnel in Flying Squad drill scenarios. His efforts increased command's damage control readiness by 40% and scored a 94 percent during MOB-D 1.4.




Assigned to N4 Department Maintenance Execution Team (MET). DC2 Harvey planned, facilitated, and performed maintenance for COMSURFPAC DIV 11 and COMMINE DIV 12 across four platform LCS ships to include preventative and corrective repairs to damage control equipment, auxiliary systems, and communication material. Assisted in the preparation and planning of three 7th Fleet expeditionary deployments. He safely managed 45 multi-rated Sailors in mechanical, electrical, and combat systems preventive maintenance. He coordinated over 800 mission critical checks alongside civilian advance planners, leading 28 junior sailors to save over $500,000 in outside activity costs on-board USS Jackson (LCS 6), USS Omaha (LCS 12), USS Charleston (LCS 18), and USS Tulsa (LCS 16). DC2 has positively increased the morale of all Sailors and taken a keen interest in his junior Sailors using his fleet experience and knowledge to motivate and mentor them by assigning and holding his junior Sailors accountable for qualifications and navy standards.
